Abstract

For over thirteen years, the special edition conference of Ensayos Sobre Política Económica (ESPE), organized by Banco de la República, has served as a platform for advancing economic research with a focus on Latin America and emerging economies. The 2016 edition centers on policy lessons and challenges in the face of global uncertainty, emphasizing the dual impact of financial integration—its potential for long-term growth and its vulnerability to external shocks. After a rigorous peer review, four papers were selected from a diverse pool of international scholars and institutions. The edition also features contributions from renowned economists who participated as keynote speakers. This collection aims to enrich the debate on economic policy and invites continued scholarly engagement with the pressing issues facing emerging markets.
